As the world prepares for the continued worsening of the COVID-19 situation, we thought we’d use our monthly blog as an opportunity to explain what has changed, as we adjust to the health and safety restrictions, as well as what remains the same here at matilda veneer..

Firstly, we are open for business! Our business model is one in which we don’t have a lot of contact with the general public. Furthermore, our well-established relationships with suppliers and customers means we don’t require regular face-to-face interactions. Therefore, we believe that with some minor adjustments in protocols in the office and warehouse that we can continue to provide a safe environment for our staff and, as a result, our day-to-day operations are we are largely unaffected.

However, matilda veneer does work extensively with partners based overseas. This means, with the closing of borders and many countries experiencing increased restrictions, there may be an affect on our ability to supply some products in the middle- to long-term. The good news is, with a veneer stock of in excess of 1.5 million square metres (and featuring over 100 species), we always have plenty of options. Our plywood stocks, headlined by appearance-grade products, are healthy as well. To add to this, we have significant new stock on its way and scheduled to arrive over the next six weeks to bolster stocks ahead of any shortages. Despite all this, the reality is, when you stock as many species, grades, lengths and types of products as we do, there are always going to instances where we run low on something. Over the coming months, with some products, it is likely to be increasingly difficult for us to have new stock on its way before the existing stock runs out. While this is the case, we are doing everything we can to plan ahead and minimise shortages and interruptions, while providing increased alternate solutions wherever possible.

matilda veneer has made the decision to cancel or postpone all interstate and overseas travel. This has meant the cancellation of numerous CPD presentations and architectural presentations. Thanks to those affected who have all been very understanding of this. As always, we are happy to discuss any questions or specifications with you over the phone and arrange for samples or educational materials to be sent via post or courier.

The current situation is very fluid, with advice from the government and health authorities being updated regularly. We will do our best to keep you informed with any changes, but for now (for the most part), it’s business as usual. We are well-positioned and have already made plans to ensure you can continue to rely on us to provide the products you need to ensure your projects are natural, unique and beautiful.

Finally, if you feel the need to panic buy, forget the toilet paper and stock up on some veneer and plywood instead 🙂

Keep safe and keep informed,

From the team at matilda veneer.
