Matilda Veneer - Creating History at St Mary's Cathedral
Matilda Veneer contributed to a three year long project to significantly add to the existing gothic style carvings, screens and furniture inside St Mary's Cathedral, Sydney.
Queensland maple was the chosen match of the existing woodwork. Matilda Veneer supplied two semi-trailer loads of Queensland maple for the cathedral work.
The first stage of the project was unveiled during Pope Benedict's visit for World Youth Day in 2008. The Queensland maple supplied by Matilda Veneer formed the woodwork for the new cathedra.
The Australian Wood Review magazine featured an article on the project for St Mary's Cathedral in their 60th Issue, September 2008.
